The analysis of best practice implementation, or Fourdham analysis, as it applies to the performance, maintainability and overall cost contribution of an application can be divided into several categories of evaluation. These categories can loosely be classified as those practices that pertain to the setup and definition of the data structure and DBMS implementation, those that stem from coding components and those that are more broad-reaching and strategic in nature. Solitaire performs Fourdham Analyses on systems that fall into two main categories: vendor COTS products that need to validate or improve their scaling thresholds and deployed applications that need to successfully increase their ability to handle workload.
This type of analysis is done at the code level, and results in a list of best practice compliance analyses, with each of the violations on that list ranked by impact. Where the impact is small, these violations can be ignored. However, where the the impact is significant SIL will propose alleviation strategies. Those strategies are also ranked by cost, in terms of time and money.
This analysis has assisted hundreds of organizations and vendors to improve the longevity of their applications and the throughput and performance. SIL has seen these customers realize from 18.5-842% improvement, with reasonable time frames and personnel time investments.
